For the letter G, I decided to draw two DC comics characters this time. General Glory(bottom) & the Green lantern(above). General Glory is a lesser known DC character that made his 1st appearance in Justice League America #46. His real name is Joseph Jones, and he served the U.S. military during WWII. When exposed to some experimental nerve gas in France, his physical abilities were heightened to their absolute peak. Decades later while serving alongside the Justice League, he suffered a major heart attack & was hospitalized. Sharing his room with a police officer name Donovan Wallace, he soon died, and in doing so transfered his powers to Wallace. Wallace's abilities were enhanced further still for unknown reasons, as the man could now also fly on golden wings. The Green Lantern I chose to draw was Hal Jordan, who made his 1st appearance in Showcase #22. Hal received his power ring from a dying Green Lantern known as Abin Sur. Hal has quit and rejoined the Green Lantern Corps, more times than I can remember. He suffered a great loss at the destruction of Coast City, and tried to recreate it with his power ring. When the Gaurdians intervened, he went on a rampage & destroyed any G.L. that got in his way of reaching the core battery on the planet of Oa. Entering the core battery gave him god-like abilities, and he called himself Parallax. As Parallax, he commited great attrocities, including trying to reshape the universe in his own image. When our sun was at risk of being permanently snuffed out, Hal made the ultimate sacrifice to save the Earth, dying in the process. His spirit later went on to be the host for the new Spectre(considered to be God's wrath), until he was later resurrected back to Hal Jordan. It was then discovered that Hal had been coerced by a being know as Parallax(hence him taking on the name), a creature feeding solely upon fear itself. Comprised of the color yellow, the creature is resposible for the G.L.'s weakness to having any effect on the color yellow(which is why when defeated, Kyle Rayner's ring was not affected by any such weakness). Restored into the Green Lantern Corps, Hal Jordan now tries to make amends for his actions following the destruction of Coast City.
